If when you boot your Windows 10 computer and encounter the Error 0211: Keyboard not found, then this post is intended to help you resolve the issue with the most suitable solutions.

Error 0211: Keyboard not found

If you’re faced with this issue, you can try our recommended solutions below and see if that helps to resolve the issue.

  1. Clear CMOS
  2. Check if keyboard is short-circuited
  3. Perform System Restore.

Let’s take a look at the description of the process involved concerning each of the listed solutions.

Before you begin, you might want to check if your firmware is updated.

1] Clear CMOS

This solution requires you to clear CMOS to reset the BIOS. If the error is due to a misconfigured BIOS setting, resetting BIOS to its default values will most likely fix the issue.

You can reset the BIOS setting to its default values by removing and re-inserting the CMOS battery. The CMOS battery is flat and round in shape. It looks like the ones used in electronic toys and watches. If it’s not removable, don’t try to remove it; instead, reset the BIOS from within the BIOS environment.

To clear the CMOS on your Windows 10 notebook, do the following:

You may require the services of a hardware technician.

  • Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the computer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the AC power source.
  • Remove the computer cover.
  • Find the battery on the board. The battery may be in a horizontal or vertical battery holder, or connected to an onboard header with a wire.

If the battery is in a holder, note the orientation of the + and – on the battery. With a medium flat-blade screwdriver, gently pry the battery-free from its connector.

If the battery is connected to an onboard header with a wire, disconnect the wire from the onboard header.

  • Wait one hour, then reconnect the battery.
  • Put the computer cover back on.
  • Plug the computer and all devices back in.
  • Power on the computer.

The computer should boot normally without the error. If not try the next solution.

2] Check if keyboard is short-circuited

Follow the instructions on the laptop manufacturer website for the removal of the keyboard in terms of removing the screws only. Remove the battery from the bay and make sure you’re grounded before fiddling. Remove the screws on the back of your laptop. Do not actually disassemble the notebook, just remove the screws. Replace the battery and turn your system on and see if it works. If it does not, this fix is not for you.

But, If it works, turn it off again and remove the battery. Re-insert the screws which are in a line towards the front of the case. Replace the battery and turn your system on. If it works, then the keyboard was short-circuited by the single screw in its middle which holds it in place. Your system will operate fine without that one screw as the keyboard is being held in by the wrist-rest’s screws as well.

3] Perform System Restore

Now, this may or may not help, but it’s worth trying. When you encounter this error, the keyboard becomes unresponsive and the only way to escape from the error message is switching the system off as Windows 10 boot halts at this point.

If you have no idea what changed that might have ended up interfering with the keyboard, you can perform System Restore but this time the procedure is for when you can’t boot to the desktop in Windows 10 as with this case.

Hope this helps!

ACER ASPIRE 5536G.

  1. Keyboard Error 0211 on StartUp

I am having Acer laptop with and everything was working fine till yesterday but today when i try to start my laptop i got 0211: Keyboard Error but when i am trying to use the keyboard in CMOS , over there it’s working fine but it’s not working with Windows XP. Can anyone tell me what would be the actually issue any ideas would be very helpful to me.

  2. Keyboard Error 0211 on StartUp

I was also getting such kind of message during start up i try to reset the bios back to default settings by either taking out the bios battery for a few minutes or using the header on your motherboard but if it still doesn’t work then try to connect it by using a USB keyboard and if it’s workign properly then it seems that there is some issues with your laptop keyboard.

  3. Keyboard Error 0211 on StartUp

i have try to reset it to factory settings to but still facing same issue can anyone tell me what’s the alternative way to overcome from this issue because i need t fix this issue very soon since i have to take it for business tour.

  4. Keyboard Error 0211 on StartUp

It seems that there would be some issue with keyboard cable is plugged in, and at the same time i would suggest you to disassemble your laptop and check if the cable is unplugged because of which you are getting Error 0211 message and or else it might also happen that there would be some issue with your motherboard because of which you are facing this issue.

  5. Re: Keyboard Error 0211 on StartUp

I had this problem on a Gatway NV52 running Vista Home Premium (64) and this is how it was resolved, with the help of their tech support:

    1. Turn off computer and unplug power cord.

    2. Disconnect all external devices

    3. remove battery

    4. press power button and hold for 10-15 seconds

    5. plug power cord back into computer and press power button.

    6. Check LED’s and listen for power supply fan.

    7. If LED’s are on or power supply fan starts spinning, watch for boot screen

    8. If computer begins to turn on, turn it off.

    9. Reconnect battery and external devices.

    10. Press power button and make sure computer starts.

  6. Re: Keyboard Error 0211 on StartUp

Right on the money. Worked for me. The shutdown seems to trigger a self-verification and rebuild of sorts. Got rid of the keyboard error. I hope it doesn’t come back as that may mean the laptop (Gateway NV series) may be a lemon. Thanks again.

  7. Re: Keyboard Error 0211 on StartUp

Thank for this trick. It helped me get past the keyboard error…however, after turning my computer off (using start -> shut down) it will not turn back on (or better it will not show anything on the display).

I get the blue power light staying solid, the red/blue charging light, and hear the system fan. When I unplug and re-plug in the power adapter, I get the beep notification. no other sounds or lights. The display remains blank, no boot information, no options for bio.

I have re-seated the ram and tried one ram stick at a time. The cables to the display seem fine and secure. I have been searching the net and tried changing the monitor position, an external monitor is not working either.

I do not get a light on the top left cord for the hard drive either…

    Any help?

Normally, a beeping sound refers to either a video card issue or a ram issue. Have you tried reseating the ram or video card (if you have any) firmly, change the position of the ram to some other slot and see if that helps. What is the computer specifications that you are having? You can get some information regarding the beep issue from some of these threads — http://forums.techarena.in/tips-tweaks/1098080.htm

You just finished installing Linux / BSD / Mikrotik router on a PC and then you want to put it on a rack or cabinet but the PC router keep showing ‘WARNING 0211: Keyboard error‘ because no keyboard is connected to the PC router/server?

The warning message just warns you that there is no keyboard as an I/O connected to the router / server. You can simply connect a PS/2 or USB keyboard to the server / router and then  press F1 button to resume the booting or DEL to run Setup. However, we don’t keep a keyboard connected to the servers / routers installed on rack / cabinet. When the servers / routers restarted, you need to connect a keyboard to press F1 to resume.

Keyboard Error

If your PC server/router uses Phoenix cME FirstBIOS Pro you can get rid of this message by disabling the POST (Power-On Self-Test) Errors on BIOS setup. On this BIOS version, you can disable this warning in the Advanced > Boot Features. Set the POST Errors option to Disabled so system will always attempt to boot instead of pausing and displaying Setup entry if error occurs on boot.
